Eastside Eucharistic Procession

Join us as we walk with the Blessed Sacrament along Lake St. Clair. The day will begin with Mass at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church at 12:00 PM. Following Mass, we will process along Lakeshore Dr. with the Blessed Sacrament to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.

Frequently Asked Questions

Procession Route

The procession will begin with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church. The faithfull will process along Lake Shore Road and conclude with Benediction at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.

Do I have to walk the whole way?

Recognizing that not everyone may be able to walk the entire route, we have a few spots where participants can join the procession.

You can join us anywhere on the route, or join us at Our Lady Star of the Sea for Benediction and fellowship.

  • All are invited to the 12:00 noon Mass at St. Paul, after which we will start the procession; or meet us at 1:00 pm on the lake side lawn.
  • 1:25 - 1:35 pm: the procession should be passing the corner of Moross and Lake Shore.
  • 1:50 -2:00 pm: the procession should be passing the corner of Woodland Shores and Lake Shore
  • 2:10 - 2:20 pm: the procession should be passing the corner of Ballantyne and Cook Road
  • Approximately 2:20 - 2:30 pm: Benediction at Our Lady Star of the Sea, followed by fellowship in the Pointe.
Can I join the procession even if I don't attend the 12:00 PM Mass?

Yes, you can. Mass will end at approximately 1:00pm. Please arrive at St. Paul on the Lake by 1:15pm to be ready to join the procession.

What should I wear for the procession?

Given the nature of the event, please wear comfortable shoes and an outfit that you can walk in for about two miles. Feel free to wear your athletic shoes to Mass that day.

Will we process even if it rains?

Yes, we will. If it rains, the Eucharistic procession will continue as planned. Please bring an umbrella or raincoat and whatever else you may need. If there is dangerous weather in the forecast (i.e., lightning), look for an email before the event with an update on an alternate plan to safely celebrate the start of the Eucharistic Procession.

Will there be water available for drinking?

There will be water available during the route. We recommend you bring your own water bottles.

  • About 1:30-1:40 pm we will be passing the corner of Moross and Lakeshore.
  • 2:10 -2:20 PM the procession will be passing the corner of Woodland Shores and Lakeshore
  • 2:35-2:45 PM the procession should be passing the corner of Morningside and Cook Rd.
  • Approximately 3:00PM Benediction will begin at Our Lady Star of the Sea, followed by fellowship in the Pointe.

Where should I park?


Parking at Our Lady Star of the Sea

Limited bus transportation will be provided for walkers who park at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and need a ride to St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church before the procession begins. To reserve your seat on the bus, please visit: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/EastsideBus

Parking at St. Paul on the Lake

A bus shuttle will be available for procession walkers who need a ride back to St. Paul Catholic Church. The shuttle will make several round trips between 2:15-3:15 pm. NO SIGN-UP IS REQUIRED. If you have questions regarding transportation, please contact Tricia Kesteloot at (313) 885-4816.

What should I bring?

Some items to consider are sunscreen, sunglasses or a hat, any medications you need (i.e., inhaler, etc.), a water bottle.

You will have to carry whatever you bring with you for the day, so please plan accordingly.
