RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process in which those seeking to grow in an understanding of the Roman Catholic faith come together to explore Catholic beliefs. This process is designed for children aged 8 years and older and adults who are thinking of becoming Catholic, for those who know that they want to become Catholic as well as for those who have been baptized but have not yet completed their Sacraments of Initiation (Eucharist and/or Confirmation).

The process of Christian initiation generally begins in the fall of the year and continues through the end of the Easter season. People who take part in RCIA meet weekly in an atmosphere of welcome, prayer, education and fellowship. In no way does the RCIA process exert pressure on those who participate but instead allows for the opportunity to contemplate this important decision while learning the teachings of the Church.

Adults, who wish to be baptized, or to complete the Sacraments of Initiation, are solemnly welcomed into the Church or into full communion at the Great Vigil of Easter.
